AM’s bus subsidy investigation

Welsh Labour politician Ken Skates (b. 1976), Minister for Economy and Transport, is facing an investigation for a possible breach of government rules relating to the funding of a bus service in his own constituency.

The First Minister for Wales, Mark Drakeford (b. 1954), confirmed being asked to investigate the Clwyd South assembly member under the Ministerial Code, which sets rules for ministers’ conduct.

Plaid Cymru transport spokesman Rhun ap Iorwerth said: ‘People need to know that there is full transparency in the way that funds are spent on bus services.

‘With funds so scarce for improving bus services it was no surprise that there was huge disappointment and harsh criticism when it became clear that the transport minister had personally intervened to ensure funding for a bus service in his own constituency,’ Mr ap Iorwerth added.
