Bus station makes awards finals

Hampshire County Council (HCC) is up for a national award for the redevelopment of Winchester Bus Station.

The project, named as one of six national finalists in the industry’s Bus Awards, will be in the ‘Making Buses a Better Choice’ category.

Each year, 1½ million visitors and residents arrive in central Winchester by bus, with 65,000 arriving or departing from the bus station each week.

The new bus station, which opened on Monday 4th September 2017, has an open-plan design that faces the Guildhall and tourist office. It features level access, a ticket office, café, nearby toilets, real-time information, and covered waiting areas.

The awards finals will take place in November.
