Spelthorne Museum looks at the history of the area known as Spelthorne. It features Stone Age tools, Roman artefacts, a 1738 fire engine, and Victorian memorabilia.

Shere Museum
In Gomshall Lane at Shere you will find Shere Museum. This features some interesting bygones, mainly from Victorian times to the 1950s, plus local history and temporary exhibitions.

The Lightbox is a museum that focuses mainly on art, sculpture, and inventions. There is also a permanent exhibit on the history of Woking. It has three exhibition rooms spread over three storeys with a café on the ground floor.

At Castle Arch in Quarry Street is Guildford Museum. This looks at the town’s historic past as well as the archaeology and history of the county of Surrey.

Loseley Park
At Littleton you will find Loseley Park. This historic manor house is a Grade I listed building. The principal room is the great hall and features a minstrel’s gallery, carvings by Grinling Gibbons (1648 – 1721), and family portraits. The walled and moated grounds depict a number of different themes. For example, a Rose Garden, Herb Garden, and Flower Garden. You can also stretch your legs on the vine and moat walks.

Clandon Park
At West Clandon is Clandon Park. This Palladian-style 18th-century country house includes collections of family paintings, furniture, fine porcelain, and needlework. The grounds feature a parterre and grotto.

The Devil’s Punch bowl is a large natural amphitheatre and beauty spot. Its highest point is Gibbet Hill at 282m (925ft).

Gibbet Hill lies above the nearby Devil’s Punch Bowl. It has fabulous views and open spaces ideal for walking in.

At Hascombe you will find Winkworth Arboretum. This 38-ha (95-ac) hillside woodland has two lakes, many rare trees and shrubs, and some fine viewpoints.

In the High Street you will find this award-winning museum, which contains nearly 500,000 specimens, artefacts, papers, and images. Collections and displays focus on botany, zoology, geography, and natural history.

The Avenue is where you will find Lightwater Country Park. Here there are nature trails, walks, and picnic areas. The visitor centre features displays and information.

At Holt Pound in Hampshire (post town Farnham, in case you were wondering) is Birdworld. This is one of England’s biggest bird parks with 1,300 birds in 10.5ha (26ac) of parks and gardens. There is also a tropical walk, Penguin Island, and Underwater World.
