King’s Pond

Alton

5 / 5 ▪ Excellent

Papermaking began in this area, then known as Mill Moor, in the mid-1700s. The pond — named after William King, who took over the paper mill here in 1784 — is now a public space; owned by Alton Town Council, it supports a range of wildlife, birds, and wildflowers.
