Bid for more electric buses

Oxfordshire County Council has submitted a £32.8 million bid to help bring more electric buses to the streets of Oxford.

The authority applied to the Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas (ZEBRA) scheme for help in delivering 159 more vehicles to the city.

The county council said it was proof of its ambition ‘to be a global leader in transport decarbonisation through the radical transformation of Oxford’s transport system’.

The project will also benefit to the tune of £49.7 million, with £6 million coming from the council and £43.7 million from bus firms Stagecoach and Go-Ahead.
