New bus routes for Bluestar

A bus firm in Southampton, Hampshire, is to introduce new routes after recruiting drivers from a rival operator.

The city’s main bus company, First Southampton, said it would close its Portswood depot and withdraw all its City Red services from next month.

On Friday 6th January, operator Bluestar said it hosted recruitment days for those affected by the closure and more than 140 drivers, previously with FirstBus, had signed up.

Bluestar, which is part of Go-Ahead’s Go South Coast division, added that it would run six new bus routes from Sunday 19th February.
