Double-decker bus overturns

A double-decker bus carrying workers to the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station overturned in icy road conditions in Somerset.

The crash, which also involved a motorcyclist, occurred on the A39, near Cannington, at about 06 00 (6 a.m.) this morning.

There were 70 people on the bus, and 54 of them received treatment at the scene, but there were no fatalities, a spokeswoman for Avon and Somerset Police said.

Ian Liddell-Grainger, MP for Bridgwater and West Somerset, said three people had sustained significant injuries in the crash.
