New busway extension opens

A new extension to a bus expressway, which bypasses a busy dual carriageway, has opened to passengers in Hampshire.

The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) scheme connects Gosport and Fareham along a disused railway line that closed more than 50 years ago.

The Eclipse route runs parallel to the congested A32 and links housing estates with the two town centres.

The route — which is due to see a new fleet of buses in spring 2022 — now extends further into Gosport.
