Bus fire leads to delays

A bus caught fire between the Hampshire towns of Ringwood and Lyndhurst, leading to severe delays and miles of congestion.

Fire crews attended the incident on the A31 on Saturday 3rd September, following reports that a double-decker was alight.

The fire service extinguished the blaze — which occurred between Picket Post in Burley and Castle Malwood in Minstead — and no one was injured.

National Highways, however, reported that there were 11 km (7 mi) of congestion and up to an hour of traffic delays after all lanes had reopened.
