River Itchen

It is a sunny autumn day, and we are on Itchen Bridge, looking out over the River Itchen; this is in the Crosshouse area of Southampton, Hampshire.

Travel Details
We made our way to the bus stops at Lordshill District Centre; this is in the Lordshill area of the city. From there we caught the number 8 bus, run by First Southampton, to our destination.

About the Destination
The River Itchen is one of the world’s premier chalk streams for fly-fishing. It rises to the south of New Alresford and flows 42 km (26 mi) to meet Southampton Water below Itchen Bridge.

Purpose of Visit
