School bus cancellations

Pupils in Gloucestershire are being left on the side of the road or arriving late at school due to frequent bus cancellations.

David van der Meulen, from Cheltenham, said he has seen more than 60 secondary school students waiting for cancelled buses.

Stagecoach West has said previously that it is facing a driver shortage and may have to reduce the number of rural bus routes.

The operator, who some say is ‘failing’ in its responsibility to deliver services, has declined to comment on the latest criticism.
