New bus lanes for two towns

Somerset County Council is to implement new bus priority lanes in two towns by 2025 as part of a multimillion-pound plan.

Central government awarded the authority’s bus advisory board £11.9 million to improve bus services.

The county council has said it will spend nearly £5.5 million on delivering new bus lanes in Bridgwater and Taunton.

The allocated money is less than one-tenth of the £163 million the authority had requested from the DfT (Department for Transport).
