Drivers’ strike goes ahead

Strike action by bus drivers in Somerset is going ahead after unions and management failed to reach an agreement.

Drivers working for FirstBus (South West) are taking industrial action tomorrow in a dispute over pay and conditions.

The RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime, and Transport Workers) accused FirstBus bosses of ‘sitting on their hands’ instead of offering a satisfactory pay deal.

FirstBus (South West), however, said it had offered a ‘great deal’, worth 17.4% over the next two years.
