01 May 2025

In the Hampshire village of Hillyfields, a temporary bus stop, with Stagecoach branding, is in the front garden of a house in Jerrett’s Lane.

Notes

•
The photo, by Lee Wilkins, dates from 10 Oct 2003.
•
Not many people can surely claim to have a bus stop in their front garden. What is even stranger is that there have never been any buses down this quiet lane; Stagecoach was not even the local operator here. A real mystery!
•
We do not know why this stop was here — or how long it was here for; we believe not for very long. We can tell you it has not been here for many a long year now, so please do not invade this lovely area — or the homeowner’s privacy — coming to look for it.
