Three Buses

01 Mar 2024

It is a misty autumn morning in Hyde Park. The Wellington Arch is in the foreground; three double-decker buses pass by in the background.

Notes

•
The photo, by Lee Wilkins, dates from 16 Nov 2002.
•
Hyde Park is a 140-ha (350-ac) historic Grade I listed urban park in Westminster, Greater London. King Henry VIII (1491 – 1547) established it in 1536 and used it as a hunting ground; it opened to the public in 1637.
•
The Wellington Arch is a Grade I listed triumphal arch by Decimus Burton (1800 – 1881). Known also as Constitution Arch, its original name was Green Park Arch.
•
Can you spot all three double-deckers? Two of them are to the right of the arch; the third one is through the trees to the left. The two on the right are old Routemaster buses.
