In Hedge End, tucked away amongst the bushes, was this request stop for People’s Provincial. Situated along St John’s Road, this was the only stop still here, as buses had long since ceased serving this stretch of road.

We believe this was the only People’s Provincial stop, still in situ at the time, within the Southampton post town area. Although not there now, the stop was in place for at least seven years after the operator had ceased trading.

People’s Provincial was operating between 1987 and 1995. It ran services to and from Fareham, Gosport, Portsmouth, and Southampton. Having sold out to FirstBus in 1995, it then became First Provincial; it now trades as First Solent.
